PAGF Glass-Fiber Nylon Screws in Drone Frames - High Strength, Lightweight | FASTKING Case

Black PAGF glass-fiber reinforced nylon screws on drone carbon-fiber frame arm

Case Background

A South-China agricultural drone maker's 30L-class crop-spraying quadcopter uses carbon-fiber arms with a central aluminum cabin. The arms were originally fastened with 8 SUS304 Phillips pan-head screws (M4×12) + nuts. Within 3 months of field deployment, two issues were reported: 1) herbicide and insecticide droplets corroded the metal screws, making in-field maintenance impossible; 2) each screw weighed 4.2g — 8 screws added 33.6g, reducing the drone's effective payload and flight time by 5%.

Solution

FASTKING recommended PAGF (pa66 + 30% glass fiber + black masterbatch) hex socket cap screws. Glass fiber reinforcement raises tensile strength to 170 MPa (exceeding 7075 aluminum's 160 MPa), matching the carbon-fiber arm strength; black pigment with glass fiber masks light reflection, preventing interference with the onboard camera; PAGF is chemically inert to all common agrochemicals in pH 3-11.

Specifications

  • Material: PAGF (pa66 + 30% glass fiber + black masterbatch), density 1.35 g/cm³
  • Sizes: M3×8 / M4×10 / M4×12 / M5×14 hex socket cap head + flange nuts
  • Performance: tensile 170 MPa, flexural modulus 9 GPa, CTE 30×10⁻⁶/°C (matches carbon fiber)
  • Chemical resistance: agrochemicals in pH 3-11, herbicides, insecticides; UV resistant (QUV 1000h)

Results

Over 18 months, FASTKING delivered 960,000 PAGF screws to this customer:

  • Per-screw weight reduced from 4.2g to 1.7g (60% reduction), saving 200g total across 4 arms — adding 90 seconds of flight time per drone.
  • Agrochemical corrosion eliminated; maintenance-free during the spray season (vs 30-day metal screw replacement).
  • Passed GJB 150 military environmental tests (-40 to 70°C, 10g vibration, 96h salt spray).
  • Covers 3,000+ agricultural drones operating on Xinjiang cotton, NE China corn, and Southern China citrus crops.
  • All 4 of the customer's drone models now standardized on PAGF, achieving 14% annual cost reduction.
